Air Conditioning in the UK

As the climate becomes hotter, the demand for air conditioning in UK property understandably rises. According to a recent report from Britain’s Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy, under 5% of homes in the UK have air conditioning. Evidently, there is a need for more air conditioning as the most recent heat wave revealed an increased demand for fans and air conditioning units.

Unlike properties in the UK, Hong Kong Properties are famously known to have air conditioning in almost every property. In fact, buildings built after 1980 usually had a special slot in the wall for occupants to install an air conditioner.  For many Hong Kongers, living in a house without air conditioning is unimaginable.

UK experiences few days per year where the temperatures rise to unbearable levels. As a result, most UK residents find central air unnecessary. Few people have invested in portable air conditioning units, and even fewer people have central air. British houses are built to retain heat. Historically, British homes have been designed to keep people warm.

However, there is an increasing demand for cooling systems due to the higher temperatures experienced in recent British summers. Developers are continually seeking ways to attract investors. New properties have air conditioning units, and older properties are finding ways to install air conditioning units in order to meet the increasing demand.

What are developers doing to meet increasing demands for air conditioning units?

The climate is changing globally. In the coming decades, there will be an increased demand for cooling systems. Developers cannot ignore these changes, and technology is advancing in their favour.

To combat the increasing temperatures, developers are turning to advanced technologies that will provide efficient cooling. Sustainable air conditioning systems are available. Modern air conditioning systems have the ability to heat up a room as well as cool it. Eco-friendly air conditioning units have a number of benefits:

  1. Reduced energy costs

With advanced technology, air conditioning units do not require too much energy. Modern air conditioning systems are compact, effective, and the amount of electricity required to run them is significantly lower.

  1. More reliable air conditioning

Modern air conditioning systems are more reliable. They have a longer lifespan and manufacturers offer longer warranties.

  1. Reduced harmful emissions

Sustainable air conditioning units reduce the amount of energy required to run an air conditioning system. As a result, they reduce your carbon footprint by reducing harmful emissions.

  1. Laws governing the use of air conditioning units

Following legal requirements, properties with air conditioning systems functioning with over 12kW must have regular TM44 inspections to check the efficiency of the system, get a sizing review, receive advice on future improvements, and get advice on replacements (if needed).

Sustainable air conditioning is a worthy investment. Hong Kong investors can enjoy the luxury of air conditioning in the UK without worrying about environmental consequences.
